2012 Vacation-Day #4 (Part 2)

After spending time at the beach, we went to The Track to ride go-carts.....

Cheney was excited he was tall enough to drive himself.

Chandler had to ride with Pop on this track.

But then she got to drive herself....she was excited too.

2012 Vacation-Day #4 (Part 1)

Today we spent hanging out on the beach & at the pool.

Chan had her best playmate with her.....POP!!

She LOVES being at the beach.

Chan couldn't wait to be buried in the sand!

The hotel had a great water slide....we spent lots of time on it!!

Even MeMe took a ride!

2012 Vacation-Day #3

Today was traveling day.  We left Louisiana and drove into.....

 

....Mississippi.  

While we were driving, Chan learned to spell

 "MI-SSI-SSI-PPI."

 

We left Mississippi after an hour or so & arrived in our destination state of Alabama.

This tunnel went under Mobile Bay.  

It was pretty cool.  Next stop, Orange Beach!!

2012 Vacation-Day #5

Today, we went parasailing.....it was FUN!!

Cheney was Mom's partner & of course, he volunteered for us to go first!!  I love that he is not afraid to try new things but I was nervous!!  

Chan & Dad got to see what it was all about before they headed up!!  Don't they look cute?!

Cheney & Mom soared high into the air.....we were pretending we were birds.  Cheney said "Mom, I feel goofy doing this."  

Chan & Daddy were all smiles as they were lifted off the boat.  

Parasailing was really cool!  We were able to see all along the coastline.  As soon as we were down, Cheney wanted to go again!!

2012 Vacation-Day #2

We got up this morning to head to Avery Island.  This is the ONLY place Tabasco sauce is made.....the peppers are grown in several places around the world but this is the only place it is actually made & bottled.

The tour of the bottling plant was interesting.

One of the things we learned was that the "pepper pickers" use a stick called a Le Petit Baton Rouge to determine if the peppers are ripe for picking.  If the peppers are red like the stick then they can be picked.

The family who owns the Tabasco plant also has an animal preserve.  We saw some alligators just swimming around.....Chan was not getting close!!

This bridge was cool!!

We sure are glad that MeMe & Pop come on vacation with us!!

The trees we have been seeing are amazing!!

We had no idea where we were staying on Day #2 but Daddy & Pop had a huge surprise.....we were staying at the Nottoway Plantation.  We took a tour of the plantation-it was really cool!!

The Plantation looks at the Mississippi River levee.  The kids stood on top.

2012 Vacation-Day #1

This year, we decided to take a different kind of vacation.....usually we fly somewhere in Mexico or Central America but this year, we are driving to Orange Beach, Alabama.  

We left two days early to do some sightseeing along the way.  The 1st day, we drove to New Iberia, Louisiana.  

After dinner, we drove around and saw this really cool tree!!

Then, we played around the hotel.....yes, Chan jumped from bed to bed!!

Chandler finally got to meet Ms. Millie--her cousin!!  She was so proud & loved every minute she spent with her.  

She is such a good big cousin!!

Grandma with two of her girls......it is so fun to get to spend time with our family.  

Millie, come back to TEXAS soon!!  We miss you already!!

Family Sad Night!

We were having a great time on the river the other when family fun night turned into family sad night!!  While Cheney was skiing, we hit a big wave & Chan split her chin open on the bow of the boat!!  So we headed to the ER to get it stitched up.

Poor baby....she was being so brave!

Daddy entertained her while we waited on the doctor.  She was laughing at him!!

The doctor was so gentle with her......very few tears!!

All sewn up......such a brave girl!!

Family Fun Night!

The other night, we headed out to the river for a little time on the boat.....Chan has been wanting to have some family fun time!!!
