Fourth of July Fun

Our 4th of July started off with lots of fun.....we watched the Biggest Small Town Parade!

Looking cute.....Cheney didn't bother to swallow the breakfast taco he was eating & I didn't notice until now. GROSS!!

Stephenson grandkids....we were missing Konni though. I can't decide: do you look adorable or do they look like trouble?

Chandler & Lance

Three of MaMa & Pop's beautiful great-granddaughters. This is Chandler, Lily, & Riley. Madison wasn't there yet.

2nd cousins.....there are a total of 9 great-grandkids....the oldest two were missing.

After the parade, we went to MeMe & Pop's house for swimming & burgers with some good friends. Then we headed to our usual spot to watch fireworks.

I love their sun-kissed cheeks.

Twelve

Twelve years ago today, our family began. I know at times our journey has been rough, but there is a reason to keep pressing on....up the mountain!

Hangin' With Kase

Chandler loves to spend the night with Granny 'Nette.....usually she & Kase are there together. Kase is 4 months older than Chandler. I know she loves "her Kasey!"

Once, there was a family who had always loved Labrador Retrievers. In fact, they loved them so much they had previously had 3 different dogs. Mommy & Daddy had Nicki & Zeke before the kids were born. Both dogs lived a very spoiled life and were loved very much.

This is Nicki. Nicki was Daddy's dog before Mommy was even around. Nicki slept in Daddy's bed....she was spoiled rotten!! Nicki lived a very long life....she fell asleep in her backyard & never woke up. The family still misses Nicki!

This is Zeke. He was so crazy! Zeke lived until he was about 12....he had diabetes & was very sick. The family was very sad to lose him!!

As you can see, Nicki & Zeke were great friends. They had many fun times together.....some of them Mommy tried to forget!!

Then, the family got a puppy. They named her Shelby. She was sooo pretty.

Shelby died unexpectedly last October & the family was very sad. They said they would never get another puppy again. About 8 months later, the family was watching "Marley & Me." We could relate to Marley--Zeke tore up a couch just like Marley!! Anyway, Mommy started looking for a rescue shelter where the family could get an older dog. It took several months, but the family finally got to meet 3 dogs.....they all looked like Shelby. The family decided which one they wanted. Before they left, the people who ran the shelter wanted to show them another dog. Apparently, the people thought the kids were very well behaved & wanted to "test" this dog. The dog was named Lance & he had a sad story.....he had been thrown into a pit bull ring, but thankfully, someone found him wondering the streets with wounds & took him in. The family immediately fell in love with Lance. Then, about a week later, Lance joined the family in his new home.

This is the day the family got Lance....isn't he beautiful? He is sooooo sweet. We love him very much & are glad that he joined our family. If you are looking for a dog, then consider adopting a dog from a shelter.....they need someone to love them!!

TLU Rookie Basketball Camp

This morning will be interesting. This will be the 1st morning that Cheney didn't have something to do this summer. The 1st week of summer, he went to Outdoor Learning Center camp. The next week was VBS. Last week, he was at Soccer Camp and this week was Basketball Camp. I have hated having to get up every morning, but I know it was great for Cheney. This morning, while we were driving to camp, I said, "This is the last day of all your camps this summer." He said, "I know, can we do it all over again? It was so fun!"

At camp, he got the MR. HUSTLE award. This makes me very proud. I love that he was recognized for his effort!! Looking back at last year, he got the same award.....consistent!!

Camping-Part #2

We had some special visitors to our campsite on Saturday!! Since we were only 30 minutes from home, MeMe & Pop drove over to spend the afternoon with us.

Cheney & Pop had fun playing in the water.

We can lay in the sun anywhere.

You might be wondering: Can we get anymore "redneck" than this?

The answer is YES!! Chandler was wondering around the campsite in her panties.....drinking sweet tea....YEP, that is redneck!!

On Saturday night, the campground has a hayride for the kids. Luckily, Heather agreed to go with C & C. Thanks Heather!!

What is camping without marshmellows?

Roasting marshmellows is fun & messy!
