Belize Vacation: Day 6

It was cloudy & overcast on day #6....we laid around on the porch all day. No one took any pictures. Mommy is pretty positive that she stayed in the hammock for several hours sleeping & was a great day!!

Belize Vacation: Day 5 ADVENTURE DAY!!

This day was a big day for us!! We got up @ 7 am for our big adventure. Cheney really, really wanted to go see the Mayan ruins so he picked this trip. He & Chandler learned a lot....and both did a great job. It was a long, hot day, but they NEVER complained. I am so proud of them. Several people talked about what great travelers they were & I know they are!! They have been doing this stuff since they were newborn!!

After crossing the bay to the mainland, we rode up this river for about 30 minutes.

Then we came to the village of Bomba. At this village, we were going to get on a bus to take up about an hour up the road....the GRAVEL ROAD!!

The people in Bomba make things to sell....this boy had two parrots. He let Cheney talk to one.

I have no idea how she slept on the bumpy road......but she did!! After the bus ride, we got on ANOTHER boat on the New River. This river goes all the way to Mexico.

We got up close & personal with two spider monkeys.

The New River is very smooth.

After more than 3 hours, we finally made it!!

The Mayan temples were amazing!!

Everyone climbed to the top of all of them.....except MeMe of course!!

This is the tallest one....Chandler went up this one with no problem at all!! Halfway up, there is rope to hold on to because it is soooo steep.

Amazing view from the top--I have to admit, I got a little shaky when I got up to the top with Chandler. I quickly told her that we were coming down.

Chandler finally convinced MeMe to climb this short one, but MeMe wouldn't let them get very close to the edge.

It was a long day, but a great day!!

Belize Vacation: Day 4

We just spent a day hanging around the was nice to have nothing to do at all.
Cheney enjoyed trying to catch hermit crabs & then chasing his sister with them....she screamed like a girl!!

There was a family staying at the complex with us. They were from North Carolina. The kids enjoyed playing together.

My sweet, silly girl!!

Our most favorite restaurant is called The is run by locals, has pretty low prices, & has a sand floor. The kids love that!! They have yummy shrimp soup too!!

Belize Vacation: Day 3

We woke up on Day #3 to go on a snorkeling trip. We went to Hol Chan National Marine park. We saw some turtles & other cool fish.
The group with the guide, Andy. Andy was great!!

Chandler was super-excited about her first snorkeling trip. She did so good....wore her mask & snorkel so she could see amazing fish! She made me laugh by squealing in her snorkel.

Cheney is a pro at the snorkeling thing.

After we left Hol Chan, we went to Shark Ray Alley. Andy let out chum for the sharks & then we jumped in! I think Chandler was trying to be like Jesus....she walked out water to get back in the boat after she jumped in. Too much Shark Week for her!!

Belize Vacation: Day 2

We woke up in Paradise....this is the view of the pool from our porch. This is low season so there weren't very many people there. I think the most I saw in the pool at one time was 4. It was so great!!

Uncle Jeff-This complex is next to the place we stayed 10 years ago. Remember the uncomfortable stone couches? The new place is WAY BETTER!! Felt like we were in someone's home.

Cheney loved checking out a bike & riding to town with his Dad.

Most everyone gets around by bike or golf cart. You can only park on one side of the street & it changes depending on the day of the month.

The island has a lagoon area on one side....we passed by this guy & his friends everyday.

Eating dinner on the lagoon side.

Holding a sardine up for the tarpon to eat.....

OMG....HUGE fish!!

We love MeMe & Pop!!

Belize Vacation: Day 1

Our trip to Belize was fun & uneventful.
Mama & the kids had to ride in the back of the plane....glad it was a smooth ride because these small planes make me very nervous!!

Nothing like Fanta orange from a bottle.

Our 1st meal on the island

Mama & Daddy were ready to relax.

Chandler & Mama walking down the street. We were kinda disappointed because when we went to Belize 5 years ago, the streets were not paved. Now they are....progress is good, but sometimes it changes your perspective.

She is very proud of her creation and ready to play some soccer!!

He Did It Again!

Many of you know that Cheney does crazy things to his hair every summer. Last week, we started with a generic mohawk.

And about an hour later, we had this!!

Sadly, it has faded already & no longer looks blue!!

New Friends

One of Daddy's best friends from high school, Melissa, is in town. The other night, we joined her family at the Ski Lodge for dinner & swimming. Melissa & her husband have three daughters. Cheney & Chandler LOVED playing with them.
Chandler & Oakley hung out all night. Oakley is 5. Aren't they cute?

The kids lined up oldest to youngest. Lila is 11, Cheney is 8, Addie is 7, Oakley is 5 and Chandler is 4.

Friends jumping in!! Fun times--the kids are planning a trip to visit the Cunninghams. They live in San Diego. It sure would be fun!!
