Kicked Out

We have been having some beautiful weather. It is cool in the morning and then sunny in the afternoon.

Friday afternoon, Cheney & Chandler were at MeMe's house so Mommy could work out. Cheney is only allowed to play his video games on the weekends. So naturally, he is glued to them on Friday afternoon. Well, MeMe wanted him to go outside. She begged & pleaded but he didn't want to. Finally, she convinced him.....to sit outside under the tree playing his video game!!

Instant Challenge

Cheney is in a club called Rising Stars. It is a part of Destination Imagination. Destination Imagination is a problem solving group. DI is for kids who are at least in the 3rd grade. Rising Stars is the "in-training" group for kids in the 1st and 2nd grade. You have to be invited to be part of the group.

On competition day, the group will present a planned skit to solve a problem and they will also participate in Instant Challenge. For Instant Challenge, they have 5 minutes to solve a problem with supplies that have been given to them and then they will present their problem to a group of judges.

Today, all the teams in the school district came together to practice for Instant Challenge.

For this challenge, they were given some supplies & 30 pennies.....they had to create a structure that was tall and could hold as many pennies as possible.

Cheney is way smarter than I ever thought about being!! Almost as smart as this Daddy!!

Green Sugar Cookies??

A couple of years ago, I bought some colored cookie dough from one of students as a fundraiser....yes, I know that was a long time ago. BUT, it has been our freezer & Chandler has been asking me to make cookies with it. Well, I finally let her pick out the color she wanted to make....there is red, blue, yellow & green. You can see she picked green....remember that is Holt's favorite color!!

Cheney has really been working on his ball handling. He is doing much better....but he has to remember to dribble when he is running!!

One Less

I finally convinced (bribed!) Cheney to pull his other tooth......he has a CRAZY smile now. We had corn on the cob for dinner the other night.....needless to say, he couldn't eat it until Daddy cut it off the cob.

Rectangle Girl

Chandler had homework this weekend. She had to make a person out of a rectangle. Mommy is sorta creative, but MeMe is soooo creative!! This is what she & Chandler came up with.....WAY TOO CUTE!!

If you don't know about MeMe's Cricut....ask her!! SHE LOVES IT~~that is what she used to make this....

A Day Off

We didn't have school Monday & the weather was BEAUTIFUL!! The kids enjoyed some time outside at MeMe's house.

Hoopin' It Up

Cheney is FINALLY old enough to play basketball in the youth league. Our family has a looooong history in this league. Mommy, Uncle Jeff, Laura, & Angela played. Then, Uncle Ernie ran the league while Uncle Jeff was a referree. For the past 10 years or so, Mommy & Daddy have been helping to run the league--sometimes all by themselves!! Now, Daddy is coaching Cheney's team. YAY!!

Cheney played defense really well....almost too well....Daddy had to tell him to back off a little.

This year, they are starting off the season playing only half court--3 on 3. The other half of the team plays on the other side. The high school coaches on the Board of Directors think this will help the kids get more ball handling & control the game a little more. Cheney was throwing the ball in at half court.

His team did pretty well & Cheney made a few baskets!! WAY TO GO!!

My Son....The Hunter

I know that some of you who read this blog will be excited and some of you will be sad. Cheney shot his 1st deer this morning. I know, I know, it isn't a big buck but he doesn't care....he shot it. When he called to tell me, I asked if he REALLY shot it or did someone help him. He said "Dad shot it once & it was kicking around, so I shot it to kill it." This city living Mama doesn't know what to think. I guess I am proud??

Princess Ballerina

Chandler told me that she wanted her 3rd birthday party to be a "Princess Ballerina" party. Well, you know MeMe....she started planning. We (I mean MeMe!!) decided to make her invitations with her Cricut machine. If you haven't seen a Cricut, you should check it out. It is COOL!! Anyway, after lots of discussion, we decided that we needed a picture to go on the invitation. We know this really creative photographer & artist--TAMMY!! If you need something made on the computer, she is the one to go to. Today, she took Chandler for her "Princess Ballerina" photoshoot. I have a few pictures, but check out her blog for the BEST pictures!!

Jack O' Lantern

Cheney is beginning to look like a Jack O' Lantern. I pulled Cheney's tooth tonight. It took a long time to convince him that the pain from pulling it would quickly go away, but the pain from it being lose would last much longer. The tooth right next to it is ready to come out, but we will wait until at least tomorrow night for that one!!

Sunday Shenanigans

We have to go back to school tomorrow & we are really sad!! But this afternoon, we headed to San Antonio for lunch/dinner & then made one last stop at the mall. Chandler played around in the food court--just being her usual silly self.

Cheney bought a new book at the bookstore....it was a little embarrassing because he was walking around the mall reading!! WHAT A DORK--but I am so glad that he loves to read!! On the way home, we tried to talk to him & he said "I am reading." Oh well, it makes him smarter!!

Some people have snow, we have leaves

I posted several days ago about the snow in Uncle Jeff & Aunt Kerry's yard. In Texas, we don't get snow, but we do have leaves. Every year, we have to rake & bag the leaves. It pretty much takes us all day. And we usually bag over 20 bags of leaves.

Karson & Cheney agreed to help up....if they got paid.

This is where I find the kids on most days.

It is going to be hard to go back to school on Monday. We might have to go to bed before midnight & get up before 10 am. What are we going to do??

New Year's Eve Fun

We had a New Year's Eve filled with family, friends, food, & fun. Those are the most important things in life. After dinner & a movie, we headed back to MeMe & Pop's house. Traditionally, Pop makes homemade sopapillas on New Year's Eve. They are YUMMY!!

But, we also brought the Wii over for some excitement. Aunt Reva was boxing Cheney. Aunt Reva won.....Cheney wasn't too happy!!

Thanks to Thatcher, Chandler has this AWESOME play-doh set. She loves it when people sit down & play play-doh with her. Aunt Reva & Tammy were more than willing to play with her. But....they have one rule: don't mix the colors!!

Because of the drought, fireworks were banned in our county. But MeMe had some poppers for the kids. Unfortunately, the poppers scared Chandler so only Cheney enjoyed them.

Let me explain the next few pictures. Lately, Chandler has been taking my camera to take pictures. Amazingly, I get lots of pictures of Uncle Mitch being crazy. I have always been tempted to post them, but I haven't yet. BUT, this one is THE BEST!!

Of course, he had to take a silly picture of Chandler.

And then, she took this picture of Uncle Mitch & Aunt Reva. I think she did a pretty good job.
