So Proud!

This is the message I got from Cheney's teacher yesterday.


Just an update. Cheney has read 901,856 words this year. Just another couple of books and he'll be in the 1,000,000 Word Club! That's quite an accomplishment for a 2nd grader.



They use Accelerated Reader at his school. He is reading the "Percy Jackson series now. WE ARE SO PROUD OF OUR CHENEY BUG!!

Birthday Party

After a busy Saturday morning, we had a busy Saturday afternoon. Chandler was invited to Keagan's 4th birthday party. It was @ Chick-Fil-A in San Marcos. I was very impressed. This store is brand new & the customer service was amazing. I will be taking the kids to that Chick-Fil-A this summer. It was GREAT!!

Chandler insisted on wearing a dress to the party. Apparently, Keagan likes dresses. Antonio also came to the party. Chandler went to school with Keagan & Antonio last year. When Antonio arrived, Keagan said "Antonio, do you remember Chandler, my girlfriend?" It was priceless. Keagan has a fabulous Christian family & we enjoyed visiting with his grandparents, aunts, & uncles who came for the party.

Technology Fair

Cheney participated in the Technology Fair this past weekend. He and 3 other children from his class showed the Powerpoint presentations they prepared after research Penguins. It is amazing what 2nd graders can do with computers & they did a fabulous job with their speaking skills.

After Cheney's group presented, we learned about how some high school kids are using the program Garage Band to mix music. It was pretty cool!!

Earth Day Celebration

Cheney's school had an Earth Day Celebration. We missed it last year because of baseball, but this year, we made it!! The plan was to have a picnic dinner, but the weather wasn't too good so we ate in the gym.

After dinner & a short PTC meeting, everyone went out on the track to run a Family Mile.

Chandler joined Keagan for one lap.

He finally let her catch up & they posed for a picture. These two love to play with each other. Keagan's family might be moving & we are very sad. I hope we can still see them from time to time. Keagan is a sweet boy with a sweet family!!

Donuts With Dad

This is "D" week at preschool which means DONUTS WITH DAD!! Chandler & her Daddy LOVE, LOVE, LOVE donuts so they were pumped about this day.

The Spender

Chandler loves new clothes....just like her Mama!! She decided that she needed a big girl bikini & this is what she picked out.

And she loves to model her new clothes, too!!

This girl makes me laugh!!

The Saver

I hope that our children can learn from our mistakes. We are not savers & we are in debt. I don't want my children to be like that so I am trying to encourage them to save their money when they want to buy something. A few months ago, Cheney decided he wanted to buy a laptop. He talked it over with us & we agreed that it was a great idea. So, he told everyone & got $$ for his birthday. He also picked up limbs for MeMe & Pop, stamped envelopes for Mid Tex Propane, did extra chores around the house, & conned us out of many dollar bills!! Last week, he announced that he finally had a little over $500!! WOW!! Sunday afternoon, we went shopping.

Cheney & Daddy carefully considered several different brands of computers.

Chandler decided that she wants to buy a computer....she already has over $100 saved so she is on her way.

He picked out this one.

When his Daddy agreed to let him buy a computer, the deal was he had to have enough for the computer, taxes, & the case. Daddy agreed to pay for the extended warranty.

Cheney!! I am so proud of you!! You have done something that your Daddy & I have struggled with our whole lives. You decided what you wanted & saved your money to buy it. I hope you continue doing this the rest of your life. You will definitely be blessed!! Daddy & I love you so much!!

Rainy Saturday

C & C spent the night with MeMe & Pop on Friday because Mommy & Daddy were running in a 10K. It has rained for the past 4 days....A LOT!! MeMe sent the kids outside because they were driving her crazy....and this is what they did!! Pretty creative if you ask me!!

Who knew you could have so much fun with the empty soda cans, a ball, & the rain!!

Just Playing

Chandler sure does enjoy playing with her cousins!! Ashtyn & Drew had already left the Easter celebration, but Thatcher was still there. They had fun cracking cascarone eggs on each other!!

Toes In The Water

Chandler has been asking for the pool to be uncovered for almost a month. She finally got her wish--THANKS DADDY & MR. MARTY for making this little girl so very happy!! Needless to say, she just couldn't wait. It was a nice sunny day, but pretty windy still.

Pretty soon, she was jumping in. We teased her that she had forgotten how to swim, but we were wrong....she picked up right where she left off.

She got a little suntan today, but it was still COLD!! This girl definitely is a summertime girl.

The Hunt

We had our Easter egg hunt at Grandma's house. Yes, Billy & I still hunt eggs.

Easter @ Grandma's House

After church, we headed to Grandma's house for our annual Easter celebration. Cheney & Chandler got their Easter baskets!! The Easter bunny brought them so really cute new swimsuits. Now, Pop & Daddy have got to get the cover off the pool!! HURRY UP!!

Before we hunted eggs, we took a great-grandkid picture. They are pretty cute, don't you think? I know that Grandma is proud of her 5 little angels!!

Easter Morning Wildflowers

Easter morning was drizzly & overcast so we waited to take our Easter pictures until after church. Since we waited, we had time to take some pictures in the wildflowers. They are so beautiful this year.

Easter Family Fun!!

Today, I decided to start a new tradition. Instead of dying eggs, we decided to make Easter cookies. It was a fun (& MESSY!!) experience.

Daddy had lots of help rolling out the dough. After the cookies were baked & cooled, we iced them. We didn't start icing until 10 pm!! There was lots of silly laughter because we were getting tired!!

Chandler & Mommy used a lot of pink & purple icing....we love pretty colors.

Cheney & Daddy got crazy with green & orange....their expressions look similar!!

Finished products!! It was so fun to make cookies with the kids even if there was flour & sugar EVERYWHERE!!

More Soccer Mornings

Cheney had a soccer game this morning. The weather is BEAUTIFUL today.....

Chandler enjoyed wearing Bubba's new hat....she loves hanging out with Granny Nette!!

Cheney had lots of fans there to watch him. He plays really hard & has a great time.

The other day, Thatcher was in town & came to see Cheney play soccer. He & Chandler had fun playing soccer together.

Matador Baseball

Last night, we headed out to the Matador baseball game. I am not sure that Chandler has been to a "big league" game before. She really enjoyed it, but didn't understand why the game was over each inning....I didn't know how to explain it to her. Oh well, the Mighty Matadors won so all was good!!
